Tell Us About Yourself

We invite you to share your story. Someone on our team will also be connecting with you in the process to hear your story.

Briefly share your story. What brought you to Journey of Faith, and how long have you been attending? What has your participation looked like so far? What’s motivating you to become a member?

Tell us about your relationship with Jesus. How did it begin, and what does it look like today? How does your faith connect with your experience at Journey of Faith?

Membership Requirements

Membership at Journey of Faith includes four commitments. Please respond to the following:

Have you made a personal decision to follow Jesus by asking Him to forgive your sins and lead your life?

Have you been baptized by immersion as a believer?

Baptisms in the Bible were by immersion. The original word for baptism most often referred to being immersed or submerged in water. Jesus was baptized by being immersed in the water and rising out of it as described in the Bible. (Matthew 3:16, Mark 1:10) Submersion in the water symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) Being submersed underwater represents our death to sin and old way of life, and being raised out of the water is a picture of how Jesus raised us and gave us a new life to live. (Romans 6:3-5)

Please review the Journey of Faith Statement of Faith and affirm your agreement.

Section 1 – God (The Trinity)
We believe in one God who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are equal in every divine perfection and execute distinct but harmonious work in creation, sustaining and caring for the world, and redemption. (Ephesians 4:4-6, 1 Peter 1:2a)

Section 2 – The Father
We believe in God the Father, creator of heaven and earth, who is perfect in holiness, power, wisdom, knowledge, and love. He concerns himself mercifully in the affairs of every person, hears and answers prayer, and saves everyone from sin and death who comes to him through Jesus. (Genesis 1:1, Ephesians 1:3-6)

Section 3 - Jesus
We believe in Jesus, the Father’s one and only Son. He was fully God and fully man, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and willingly died on the cross to atone for the sins of the world. He was resurrected and ascended into heaven, where he intercedes for his people until his personal return to earth. (John 1:1-5, 14, Philippians 2:6-8, Acts 1:9-11, Hebrews 1:3, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17)

Section 4 – The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who is wholly God and sent by the Father to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. The Holy Spirit comforts, empowers, guides, and gives life to every believer. It is through the Holy Spirit’s power and presence that we are able to live for God and be his witnesses. (John 14:16-17, John 16:7-11, Acts 1:8, Romans 8:9-11)

Section 5 – The Bible
We believe that the Bible is fully inspired by God, without error in the original manuscripts, and the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Section 6 – Sin and Salvation
We believe that all people are sinful and need God’s forgiveness. We believe that Jesus, who himself will preside over the final judgement of all people, also provided a means for their salvation through his death and resurrection. Those who choose not to follow Jesus will be separated from God forever, while those who make a decision to accept Jesus’ forgiveness and leadership will be saved by grace and receive eternal life with God. (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, John 3:16)

Section 7 – The Church
We believe that Jesus is the head of the universal Church, and all believing people are members. The local church exists for the purposes of worshiping God, observing the ordinances of the Lord’s Supper (communion) and baptism of believers by immersion, encouraging spiritual growth, accountability, evangelism, and service. (Matthew 28:19, 1 Corinthians 11:23-29)

Section 8 – Christian Living
We believe everyone who follows Jesus should devote their lives to actively loving God and loving others. They should strive to be faithful to God’s ways as revealed in Scripture, be wise stewards of their possessions, gifts, and abilities, sacrificially love people as Jesus does, and work together to experience the rich and meaningful life God intends for all of humanity. (Mark 12:29-31, John 10:10)

At Journey of Faith, we believe that following Jesus transforms every part of our lives. As members, we commit to growing in spiritual maturity, living in alignment with biblical teaching, and supporting one another through community, accountability, and grace.

Our Membership Commitment Statement:
As members of Journey of Faith, we are always seeking to grow toward having every area of our lives reflect God’s love and biblical teaching. Through ongoing dialogue and prayer, we support each other in areas such as avoiding substance abuse, not engaging in criminal activity, and using our words and actions to build others up in love, rather than engaging in gossip, slander, dishonesty, vulgarity, or divisive arguments.

We also strive to maintain sexual purity, which includes reserving sexual activity for a marriage relationship between a man and a woman. Additionally, our staff and pastors do not perform marriages between same-sex couples.

In all of these and other areas of spiritual life, we agree to submit to one another for accountability as we pursue integrity. Our pastors are available to offer encouragement and discuss challenges and questions that our members face in developing a Christ-honoring lifestyle.

Do you commit to pursuing a biblical Christian lifestyle as described above?

Membership Commitments

Becoming a member of our church means committing to grow in your faith by engaging in key areas such as groups, serving, and giving. We ask this not out of obligation, but because we believe these practices are essential to both your personal spiritual growth and the ongoing mission of our church.

Here at Journey of Faith we believe that life is best lived in community, so we encourage all of our members to join or lead a group. Groups provide more than just a bible study. They are a place to truly connect and share life with a group of people.

Here at Journey, we believe that serving is a vital way for people to use their gifts and talents to make our church a welcoming environment. We have lots of ways for people to serve, and we encourage all of our members to be involved in volunteer ministry.

Here at Journey, all of our ministry happens because of the generous giving of our members and attenders. We would not be able to offer ministry to our community without the partnership with those who give.

What’s Next?

After you submit your application, a member of our Membership Committee will contact you to schedule a conversation. This is simply a chance to connect, ask any questions, and hear more about your journey.

We’re excited about what God is doing in your life and honored to walk with you in this next step!
