The Summit

Where can we gain a clear understanding of the purpose of life? The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus is the summit from which all of God’s plans are made clearer. During this four-week series, which includes Good Friday and Easter Sunday, we’ll see how Jesus declared his victory over death and defeat and prepared his followers for the God’s mission to the world. We’ll begin with Jesus’ teaching on the power and presence of the Holy Spirit (John 14-16), followed by Jesus’ prayer when we face rejection and hardship (John 17). Then on Good Friday and Easter, we’ll celebrate Jesus’ sacrifice for us (John 18-19) and his death-defeating Resurrection (John 20). And we’ll conclude with Jesus’ Great Commission (John 20, Matthew 28:16–20). Through these life-changing stories, we’ll be reminded of the God’s love for us, victory over hardship, and the hope we can find in a life-purpose that is bigger than us. And as we ascend the summit, we’ll discover that every step upward shapes us into who we are meant to be.
